Burnley manager Scott Parker has praised new Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior, who he says has done “remarkably well” since their last meeting.

The two will be in opposite dugouts at Stamford Bridge this Saturday, as their sides meet in the Premier League.

It is a stark contrast from the last time they came across each other in the Championship – when Parker’s Bournemouth defeated Wayne Rooney’s Derby County, who had Rosenior working as an assistant.

The fixture also has extra significance for Parker who spent 18 months at Chelsea during his playing career. “Well, yeah, it is,” the coach answered on it being a special game for him. “Obviously I had some time there at Chelsea and obviously a good experience for different reasons really.

“But yeah, a fantastic football club and obviously going up against Liam, who’s done fantastically well in a short space of time there as well.”

Rosenior is still undefeated in the Premier League and has won eight of 11 matches in all competitions since taking charge. Burnley will hope to end that run as they continue to battle against relegation.

Parker continued: “And seeing him develop as a young coach, I came across him when he was assistant with Wayne at Derby.

“So, he’s been in his company and done remarkably well at Strasbourg, going abroad and with what that feels like certainly.

“So, yeah, he’s done well and we’re looking forward to the game for sure.”
