Remiro looks set to see out Real Sociedad contract | OneFootball

Álex Remiro looks likely to remain at Real Sociedad for the final year of his contract, with the club signalling continuity in goal next season. The window has already brought exits for Duje Caleta-Car, Wesley Gassova and Brais Méndez, with further departures expected.

According to AS, Napoli and Aston Villa have shown interest in Remiro, and Barcelona considered him as a high-end deputy to Joan García.

Last season was demanding for the goalkeeper and the team, capped by a late World Cup omission, yet he stayed Matarazzo’s first choice in La Liga. Unai Marrero’s cup displays, including two saves in the final against Atlético de Madrid, had fuelled talk of change.

Sporting director Erik Bretos wants to go into the campaign with Remiro and Unai Marrero as the senior goalkeepers, with Aitor Fraga also involved. President Aperribay has indicated there are no talks for Remiro to leave and the player has not asked to go.

Real Sociedad are into their second week of pre-season and Remiro is training with Matarazzo’s squad as they prepare for Europe and the Supercopa, plus La Liga and the Copa del Rey. The market remains fluid until the deadline, but signs point to him seeing out his deal.
