After wrapping up a short camp in Germany with two defeats to Cologne, Real Sociedad took Sunday off, with several players heading to the San Sebastián racecourse.

Álex Remiro, Beñat Turrientes y Jon Martín went to Lasarte-Oria to support Álvaro Odriozola, a keen racing fan, whose mare Darkava finished second in the Gran Premio Hotel María Cristina, according to Diario Vasco.

Matarazzo’s side will also rest on Monday before a demanding week begins. Training resumes in the afternoon at 15.00, then on Wednesday and Thursday from 11.00. Friday’s final session is set for 15.00 ahead of a trip to London.

That London assignment will be the last major test for a team preparing for four competitions this season. Focus then turns to the league opener on Friday 21, away to Betis at La Cartuja.
