Remo fan tattoos Marcelo Rangel save from Pedro | OneFootball

A Remo supporter has had Marcelo Rangel’s save from Pedro tattooed on his right thigh, even though Flamengo won their 26th round Brasileirão match at the Mangueirão. According to Coluna Do Fla, the fan is Cássio Miranda.

He said the sitting lasted 12 hours, became uncomfortable after 19:00, and the shorts alone took two hours. He added it was about affection rather than fame, that Rangel phoned to offer support, and that he had no regrets.

The artwork was done by Bruno Ferreira, known as Lango, who knew Miranda and his admiration for Rangel, and was given licence to recreate the moment in fine detail.

The save came 10 minutes into the second half. After a cross from the left, Pedro shot at goal, but the Remo keeper leapt and got his left hand to the ball.

Rangel later outlined the technique, saying he kept his hips low to react, rotated his body and dived into space trusting the ball would enter his range, stressing the roles of strength, reaction and reflex.

He called the tribute surreal, thanked the fan for carrying a piece of his story, and praised the tattooist’s work.

Rogério Ceni, one of the greatest goalkeepers in Brazilian football history, rated it the most beautiful save of the past 10 years.

Flamengo face Red Bull Bragantino on Sunday 20 in the 28th round of the Brasileirão at the Maracanã, with kick-off at 18:30 Brasília time. It will be shown on SporTV and on Premiere pay-per-view.
