Vasco have begun manoeuvres to secure a permanent deal for centre-back Robert Renan after his standout form, with coach Renato Gaúcho’s approval. According to PaponaColina, the defender has been made a priority for the rest of the campaign.
Renan arrived from Zenit on loan until midyear, and his level has accelerated plans to pursue a long-term agreement to keep him in Brazil.
He adapted quickly to the domestic grind from his first training session, and his composure and ball progression have impressed the new technical staff, establishing him as a trusted starter.
Recently appointed Renato Gaúcho has authorised talks to advance and sees considerable room for tactical growth, keeping Renan in the first team. The defender will start on Wednesday in the clássico against Fluminense at the Maracanã.
Budget limits mean negotiations with Zenit are being handled cautiously, with formal discussions on fees and signing-on terms planned to intensify only as the loan nears its end. Internally, the derby is seen as another showcase that could justify a heavy investment. The deal is treated as a medium-term priority, and there is optimism about agreeing a permanent contract.
