Roma will not be activating their €15m buy option for on-loan Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Renato Sanches, who will return to the French capital at the end of June following a disappointing spell at the Stadio Olimpico in 2023-24.

The former Benfica and Bayern Munich midfielder joined the Giallorossi last summer on loan with an option to buy, which would have become mandatory if certain conditions were met.

However, he has made just seven Serie A appearances this term, plus another five in the Europa League for a total of 260 minutes. That makes for an average of just over 21 minutes per competitive appearance.

According to updates from Fabrizio Romano, PSG will now look to move Renato Sanches on during the summer transfer window. The Parisians had paid a fee of €10m plus €3m in bonuses to acquire his services from Lille in August 2022.

Renato Sanches penned a five-year contract at the time, which means he still has another three years on his deal until its expiry in the summer of 2027.
