Renee Slegers gave Arsenal fans a positive injury update over the weekend, with the Gunners preparing to welcome back two key players.

Ahead of Arsenal’s win against Liverpool on Saturday, Renee Slegers confirmed that both Kim Little and Leah Williamson would be on the bench for the clash.

“Both Kim and Leah will be in the squad tomorrow, so that’s really positive news,” Slegers said. “They’ve been training with the squad and they both look good, so that’s really positive.

“Leah has been away for much longer than Kim, so Kim is available for more minutes than Leah will be tomorrow.”

Arsenal’s vice-captain did make a return to action against Liverpool, coming off the bench for the final 20 minutes of their win.

Leah Williamson watched on from the bench once again but it seems the defender will make her return before Christmas.

The Lioness hasn’t featured for Arsenal this season after having minor knee surgery in the summer.

Williamson has still been active off the pitch, with the Arsenal captain collecting the Grassrootss Game Changer Award this week on behalf of her club.

Chloe Kelly set for spell on the sideline

While there was good news for both Williamson and Little, there was a less positive update on Chloe Kelly.

The England winger limped off the field during international duty and hasn’t played for Arsenal since.

“Chloe Kelly came back with an injury, a little ligament in the back of her knee. So she won’t be available tomorrow and I don’t expect her to be available for the rest of the block. But we’ll see.” Slegers explained.

Kelly may need until after the winter break until she is fit again which means she’ll miss out on a busy run of fixtures for Arsenal that culminates in a League Cup quarter-final.

Dutch goalkeeper Daphne van Domselaar is also out with an injury and she may not return until the new year.

“Daphne won’t be available.” Arsenal’s manager continued. “She’s been managing a quad tendon issue and it needed an injection, so she won’t be available for the rest of the block.”

Arsenal face FC Twente in the Champions League on Tuesday night in a must-win game if they are to make the knockouts.
