Stade Rennais FC are reportedly very close to reaching an agreement with Toulouse FC over the transfer of Charlie Cresswell (23), according to Foot Mercato. A deal worth around €25m, plus bonuses of up to €3m, has even been mentioned.

In their search for defensive reinforcements for the coming season, the Breton club appears to have found what they were looking for in France. And it is thanks to a substantial financial offer – which would place Cresswell among the top three highest-paid players at SRFC – that Les Rouge et Noir management have reportedly managed to convince the Englishman to continue his adventure in Ligue 1.

Having joined Toulouse from Leeds United in 2024, the Preston-born player quickly established himself as one of the leading figures in his position in the French league. Starting in central defence for Les Violets in 31 of the 32 matches (four goals, three assists) he played in the 2025-26 season, Cresswell once again impressed.

Also courted by VfL Wolfsburg and West Ham United, it is ultimately in the west of France that the English Under-21 European champion is set to continue his rise, as he prepares to make his European debut in the Europa League.
