Leo Ostigard’s (25) short stint at Stade Rennais looks to be coming to an end. As per a report from L’Équipe, the defender is set for a return to Italy.

Ostigard arrived at Rennes last summer, however, he was one of many recruits who struggled to settle at the Breton club. Consequently, he was loaned out to Hoffenheim for the second half of the season. It was a mixed spell for the Norwegian, who returned to Rennes this summer.

However, SRFC are not looking to retain Ostigard, especially given his high salary. A departure was always envisaged and it is now set to be confirmed.

As per L’Équipe, Ostigard is set to complete a move to Serie A side Genoa, managed by Patrick Vieira. There is an agreement between the two clubs over a loan with a purchase option worth €8m. The defender has already spent a short spell on loan at the Serie A side, between January and June 2022.
