Rennes ownership plan to reshape Habib Beye’s coaching staff

After a difficult run of results, Habib Beye appears to have weathered the storm at Stade Rennais, with the club’s ownership now reportedly fully backing their manager and looking to reinforce his technical staff.

The Senegalese coach, who was under increasing pressure after going over a month without a win, saw his side respond emphatically with a 4-1 victory over Strasbourg — a result no other Ligue 1 side had managed so far this season. Coming just days after a 2-2 draw with Toulouse, the win eased the tension around Roazhon Park and reaffirmed the squad’s commitment to their coach.

According to a report from Foot Mercato, the Pinault family, who own the club, have expressed a desire to give Beye the best possible conditions to succeed. The board are reportedly looking to bring in two new assistant coaches by January, one of whom could be Mathieu Le Scornet — currently PSG’s Academy Technical Director. Le Scornet, who previously worked at Strasbourg, was already proposed as a potential addition to Beye’s staff last winter.

However, any changes will depend on convincing Beye to restructure his current backroom team, in whom he still holds full confidence.

In parallel, Rennes’ ownership is also considering appointing Eric Blahic to replace Laurent Bessière as head of performance. Club president Arnaud Pouille had personally brought Bessière in from Lens earlier this year, having previously worked with him there.GFFN | George Boxall
