Stade Rennais’s European charge took a stumble last weekend as they fell to a 2-0 defeat to FC Lorient in the Derby Breton. A result that left Rennes unable to leapfrog Lille OSC and take fifth spot. They’ll look to bounce back tonight against an AS Monaco side that has not won in Ligue 1 since late November.
Head coach Habib Beye will be without Mohamed Kader Meïté, who is set to join Al-Hilal in a €30m move. The 18-year-old striker has had a breakthrough campaign and will likely leave his boyhood club halfway through it. Seko Fofana, similarly, will be left out of the squad, with the midfielder expected to leave this winter.
Beye will also be unable to call upon his captain, Valentin Rongier, who has suffered an injury. Left-back Quentin Merlin will be expected to once again deputise in midfield, a position he has played frequently in recent weeks.
Brice Samba; Lilian Brassier, Jérémy Jacquet, Abdelhamid Aït Boudlal; Musa Al-Taamari, Quentin Merlin, Djaoui Cissé, Mahdi Camara; Estéban Lepaul, Breel Embolo. (L’Éq)
