Stade Rennais FC are reportedly targeting Sunderland AFC’s Elyezer Mayenda (21) in the summer transfer window, according to Foot Mercato.

Under contract with the Tyne and Wear club until 2030, the forward is a versatile player whose qualities are said to be appreciated by Les Rouge et Noir management, who could move quickly to try to prise him away from the Black Cats.

Although he is coming off a disappointing season in England, with just two goals and one assist in 24 appearances across all competitions, Mayenda remains a highly rated player on the transfer market, given his promising potential.

Rennes, keen to strengthen their squad ahead of the Europa League, are well aware of this. And it is precisely for this reason that the deal could quickly become a priority for a club that has already signed three new players since the transfer window opened: Gonçalo Oliveira (19), Issa Soumaré (25) and Adrien Thomasson (32).
