Olympique de Marseille will compete in the UEFA Champions League next season, however, there is a question mark as to whether Valentin Rongier (30) will play a part in the campaign.

Rongier has this season returned from a frustrating long-term injury to play an important role in Marseille’s midfield as Roberto De Zerbi’s side finished second in Ligue 1. However, despite finding a place in this OM side, despite significant recruitment in this sector (Adrien Rabiot, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Ismaël Bennacer), there are question marks about Rongier’s future at the Vélodrome.

The Frenchman’s contract at OM expires at the end of next season. Speaking yesterday, Pablo Longoria stated that there would be a discussion with the midfielder regarding an extension. However, he is also coveted by other clubs, notably Stade Rennais, according to Foot Mercato.

The Breton club showed an interest in January, without getting the deal over the line, but they have retained their interest and could make another attempt this summer.
