Heading into the new season without any form of European football for the first time in seven years, Stade Rennais are nonetheless looking to strengthen their squad this summer.

The club have already lost Fabian Rieder on loan to VfB Stuttgart and are also set to lose Enzo Le Fée to AS Roma. There is therefore an urgent need to reinforce Rennes’ midfield. As reported by Ouest-France,  Les Rennais are nearing an agreement to sign Glen Kamara (28) from EFL Championship side Leeds United as the club looks to re-build a squad that could yet be further dismantled between now and the end of the transfer window.

Speaking at his presentation as Rennes’ new sporting director, Frédéric Massara addressed the club’s reported interest in the Finnish international. “He is a Leeds player, a good player, definitely interesting, but of course, we are interested in lots of players, some of which have not yet been revealed and could arrive, even quickly,” he said.

Get French Football News understands that Rennes’ interest in Kamara predates the arrival of Massara at the helm of the club. The midfielder’s contract with Leeds United runs until the summer of 2027.
