Stade Rennais interested in signing Moroccan striker Yassir Zabiri from Famalicão before the winter window closes.

Zabiri becomes one of January’s most wanted forwards

Moroccan forward Yassir Zabiri is quickly becoming one of the hottest names in the winter transfer market, with growing interest from both Europe & the Gulf.

While Saudi club Al Ittihad have been strongly linked with the player, French outlet Foot Mercato reports that Stade Rennais are now showing serious interest in the 20 year-old striker who currently plays for Famalicão in Portugal.

Zabiri is believed to prefer staying in Europe and Rennes have reportedly become his main target as he looks to take the next step in his career.

Rennes move after Meïté exit

Rennes’ interest has increased after the club prepared to sell young attacker Kader Meïté to Al Hilal for more than €30 million leaving gap in their forward line.

With the transfer deadline approaching, Zabiri has been identified as possible long-term replacement.

Reports suggest that Rennes have already begun concrete talks as they aim to strengthen their attack in the final hours of the window.

Famalicão expected to demand between €15 million and €17 million to allow the Moroccan striker to leave.

Breakout star with Morocco U20s

Zabiri’s reputation has grown rapidly thanks to his performances with Morocco’s U20 national team where he impressed on the international stage.

He drew major attention after scoring five goal at the U20 World Cup including two in the final and has continued his progress this season in the Portuguese league.

Since joining Famalicão from Union Touarga in summer 2024, Zabiri scored four goal in 12 Liga Portugal appearances showing strong form despite his young age.

Player wants regular European Football

Transfer reports suggest Zabiri received offers from clubs in Saudi Arabia & Qatar but his priority remains move that keeps him in Europe and gives him regular playing time.

The striker has also spoken with Rennes defender Abdelhamid Aït Boudlal as speculation grows around possible switch to Ligue 1.
