Rennes beat Strasbourg 3-0 at the Stade de la Meinau to climb from sixth to fourth in Ligue 1 and into the Champions League qualification places.

In the 20th minute, Estéban Lepaul swept in from close range after Sebastian Szymański's supply, the forward moving to 17 league goals and first in the scoring chart. Breel Embolo doubled the lead from a corner (50.), set up by Lepaul, before Mousa Al-Taamari tucked in a third soon after from Ludovic Blas's pass (52.).

Mike Penders made five saves for Le Racing but could not keep out Rennes' ruthless finishing after the interval.

Following half-time changes, Le Racing briefly rallied and Martial Godo struck the right post from the centre of the box (61.).

Play was paused for treatment to Alidu Seidu early in the second half, then the visitors quickly reasserted control.

Rennes registered 26 attempts, with nine on target, underlining their threat. Le Racing produced nine shots but managed just one on target.

Next, Le Racing host Nice in the Coupe de France semi-finals, then visit Lorient in Ligue 1. Rennes host Nantes next in the league.
