Having helped promoted side Nottingham Forest secure Premier League safety in his first season at the club, former Paris Saint-Germain right-back Serge Aurier has suitors for a potential return to Ligue 1, six years after leaving the French capital.
According to Foot Mercato, Rennes director Florian Maurice is “dreaming” of bringing in the full-back, not least with Tottenham Hotspur loanee Djed Spence on the way out and captain Hamari Traoré attracting interest of late from the likes of Lyon and Barcelona.
Aurier himself, though, is happy at Nottingham Forest, and more generally would be inclined to remain in the Premier League. The Lens youth graduate made 81 appearances in total for PSG, winning the Ligue 1 title twice and lifting the Coupe de France three times, before his move across the Channel to play for Spurs. He was also sanctioned in 2016 for a Periscope video in which he criticised then-coach Laurent Blanc as well as several of his teammates.
