Midfielder’s future clouded amid injuries, lateness and disciplinary issues

Repeat controversy raises doubts over Mali star’s Tottenham future
Tottenham Hotspur have opened internal investigation following allegations that Yves Bissouma was filmed inhaling nitrous oxide, commonly known as “laughing gas”.
British newspaper The Sun published footage that it claims shows the 29 year old midfielder using the substance.
“We are looking into the events and it will be dealt with as internal matter.”
This is not the first time Bissouma has faced disciplinary action for similar incident.
In 2023, he received one match suspension after being photographed inhaling nitrous oxide. He later apologised, describing it as “severe lack of judgement.”
Under UK law, possession of nitrous oxide for recreational use became criminal offence in 2023 carrying potential penalties of up to two year in prison.
Bissouma’s contract expires at the end of the season, and his situation at the club has deteriorated:
Signed from Brighton for £30 million in 2022, Bissouma had been expected to become core midfield figure. Instead a combination of fitness issues, off field incidents and repeated disciplinary concerns have left his Spurs future increasingly clouded.
