Replacement for Musiala? Bayern to make a decision after diagnosis

Jamal Musiala recently shocked FC Bayern fans when he collapsed on the field twice in just a few days—especially since the cause was unknown. The diagnosis is now clear, but questions remain.

“I was diagnosed with temporary, brief, but easily treatable absences caused by a neurological dysfunction,” Musiala explained following his second collapse during the match against Heidenheim.

He had already collapsed against Leipzig and appeared dazed afterward. An emergency doctor came onto the field but quickly gave the thumbs-up. Musiala’s condition is treatable and, in theory, manageable, but there are no guarantees regarding how long he’ll be sidelined.

Bayern to Make Decision Following Musiala’s Diagnosis

If Musiala has to sit out for an extended period again, that’s obviously a problem not only for the player himself but also for Bayern. According to Sky, however, the record champions have now decided not to sign a replacement for Musiala.

This is therefore not an issue at all. Instead, the focus is on supporting Musiala as best as possible during his recovery process. This involves adjusting his medication, which is being done in close consultation with the treating neurologists.

No one can say with any certainty at this point exactly when Musiala will return to play or when he’ll be able to play without any symptoms. But Bayern wants to take the pressure off him and also has other options besides him for the playmaker position. Serge Gnabry, Ismael Saibari, Tom Bischof, Lennart Karl, and Michael Olise can all theoretically play the number 10 position.

Without this pressure, Musiala can, above all, focus first and foremost on coping with the illness and understanding what it means.
