New Milan boss Ruben Amorim is reportedly ready to throw Ardon Jashari a lifeline after a disappointing first season at San Siro. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Portuguese manager is willing to give the Swiss midfielder the benefit of the doubt amid growing interest from abroad.
Milan paid Club Brugge around €34 million to sign Jashari last summer. Despite being courted by numerous European clubs, the 23-year-old chose the Rossoneri. However, his first season in Serie A didn’t go according to plan.
Marred by a lengthy injury layoff, Jashari skipped the first couple of months of the 2025/26 season. Even after regaining full fitness, he couldn’t break into Massimiliano Allegri’s starting XI, making just 14 league appearances without scoring.
Jashari’s underwhelming campaign has not derailed his international status. He was in the starting lineup as Switzerland squeezed past Colombia in the World Cup last-16 to set up a mouth-watering quarter-final tie against Argentina. Furthermore, he has been a regular starter for Murat Yakin’s side throughout the tournament.
It was barely surprising that Jashari couldn’t establish himself as a permanent first-team fixture last term. In addition to former Ballon d’Or winner Luka Modric, Allegri had often relied on his pupil, Adrien Rabiot, leaving the Swiss star with limited opportunities to stake his claim.
However, Amorim’s arrival could help Jashari turn his fortunes around. After all, the player has confirmed his ambition to stay and fight for his place at San Siro. With Rabiot now heavily linked with a move to Napoli, Jashari may finally get the clean slate he needs to prove why Milan fought so hard to sign him in the first place.
