Arsenal have reportedly registered an interest in the potential transfer of Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike, but so have other clubs.

According to Florian Plettenberg, the Gunners are joined by Manchester United, Liverpool and Juventus in tracking Ekitike ahead of this summer.

It seems Ekitike would likely cost as much as €80m, so this won’t be an easy deal for clubs to get done, though his fine form this season makes him a tempting option.

See below for the latest details on this story, with Plettenberg posting on X about the Frenchman’s future as Arsenal look at him as an alternative to Newcastle’s Alexander Isak…

Eintracht Frankfurt are aware that Manchester United are seriously considering Hugo #Ekitike as a potential transfer target for the upcoming summer. #MUFC Arsenal (Isak remains the No. 1 target), Liverpool, and Juventus have also registered their interest. #LFC Eintracht… pic.twitter.com/IEVP6lWegl — Florian Plettenberg (@Plettigoal) March 28, 2025

Ekitike has an impressive record of 19 goals and seven assists in 37 games in all competitions this season, and it’s easy to imagine the 22-year-old bagging even more for this Arsenal side.

Mikel Arteta’s men haven’t been short of quality chances created this season, but they’ve often lacked a reliable finisher who can get them 25+ goals.

Hugo Ekitike or Alexander Isak for Arsenal?

Ekitike looks like the next big thing in European football, so it could be smart for Arsenal to move for him now instead of Isak, who’s older and who would likely be far more expensive.

Newcastle also surely won’t want to sell to a Premier League rival, whereas Ekitike would be coming from the Bundesliga.

The former Paris Saint-Germain youngster could also surely do a job for Liverpool right now, as they look in need of an upgrade on Darwin Nunez.

Man Utd, meanwhile, might struggle to compete for these names for Ekitike’s signature, even if they desperately need a new striker.

Ruben Amorim will surely want an upgrade on flops like Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee, but it’s perhaps hard to see Ekitike joining MUFC while they’re out of the Champions League.
