Jobe Bellingham has reportedly ruled out a January move to Manchester United despite limited playing time at Borussia Dortmund. According to The Mirror, United were exploring the possibility of taking the 20-year-old on loan, but the midfielder has “no interest in leaving them to join United on loan.”

The report suggests Bellingham’s decision is influenced by United’s absence from the Champions League, with the midfielder said to be keen on playing at the highest level. “If he was to leave Dortmund, the 20-year-old would want to join a club which can offer him games at the highest level,” the article noted.
Bellingham joined Dortmund from Sunderland in a £27 million deal last summer but has endured a challenging start in Germany, making only two league starts so far. His limited involvement continued at the weekend, as he featured only briefly in the home win over Köln.
Despite his struggles, Bellingham remains committed to Dortmund, though tensions have reportedly emerged behind the scenes. His father, Mark Bellingham, a former non-league striker and retired police sergeant, is said to have clashed with the club’s sporting director, Sebastian Kehl.
The disagreement reportedly occurred after Jobe was substituted at half-time on his Bundesliga debut by Niko Kovac. “The decision infuriated Mark, who waited in the tunnel after the final whistle to confront members of the club’s hierarchy,” the report explained.

While Dortmund continue to see Bellingham as a long-term project, the current uncertainty has invited speculation over his future. However, sources close to the player insist he remains focused on developing in Germany rather than seeking an early Premier League return.
Manchester United, meanwhile, are expected to intensify efforts to strengthen their midfield in January. With Bellingham unlikely to move, attention has reportedly turned to England international Conor Gallagher.
Gallagher, now at Atletico Madrid, “has not started a game for Diego Simeone’s side since September” and is seeking regular minutes to boost his hopes of making Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the World Cup.

United manager Ruben Amorim is understood to be targeting reinforcements to improve energy and creativity in midfield as the club continue to rebuild after an inconsistent first half of the season.
Manchester United supporters may feel frustrated but not entirely surprised. The club’s decline in recent years has made it difficult to attract top emerging players, especially those already embedded in ambitious European projects. Dortmund’s environment, despite the turbulence, offers Bellingham consistent exposure to elite-level football and a pathway that his older brother benefited from before moving to Real Madrid.
There is also a growing belief among fans that United’s midfield problems cannot be solved by short-term solutions or speculative loans. The links to Conor Gallagher are intriguing, yet they also underline the lack of long-term structure in recruitment. Supporters may question whether Gallagher, talented as he is, truly represents the kind of transformative addition the club needs.
Ultimately, this episode reinforces a recurring theme: United must rebuild credibility on and off the pitch before they can compete for the game’s brightest prospects. For now, fans will hope Amorim’s recruitment strategy brings clarity and stability rather than reactive moves.
