Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi is unlikely to be a top target for Chelsea in the January transfer window according to reports.

The Blues had a busy summer in which they made six signings, with five of those attackers, as the frontline underwent a major revamp.

Chelsea lost Levi Colwill to an ACL injury before the start of the season, and opted not to replace the England International.

Marc Guehi unlikely to be a top Chelsea target in January

Chelsea were linked with Dean Huijsen earlier in the summer but missed out on the Spain international to Real Madrid.

Guehi is another name Chelsea have been linked with, but they opted against making a move for their former player, who saw a move to Liverpool collapse on deadline day.

Enzo Maresca made it clear he wanted another centre back, but he’ll now have to make do until at least January with his current options.

It’s been reported Chelsea would be more likely to recall Aaron Anselmino or Mamadou Sarr in January than sign another centre back, and TEAMtalk have reported Guehi is unlikely to be a top target in January.

The report states a signing hasn’t been ruled out, but as of now Guehi isn’t a priority, even though he’d be a good fit for the role.

Benoit Badiashile returns to Chelsea training

Chelsea have been boosted by Benoit Badiashile’s return to training, and the Frenchman will give Maresca another option at the back.

Badiashile has been plagued by injury issues recently, but if Chelsea can get him back to the form he showed in his first six months at the club there’s a player there.

Wesley Fofana is fit, but has yet to start a game this season, with Tosin Adarabioyo and Trevoh Chalobah currently the first choice defensive pairing.
