Report: Chelsea prepared to offer €60m for Bundesliga star in January, Bayern also in the race | OneFootball

Chelsea are considering making a January move for RB Leipzig central defender Castello Lukeba according to reports.

The Blues lost Levi Colwill to an ACL injury in before the start of the season, but opted against signing another centre back, despite public pleas from Enzo Maresca.

Chelsea have struggled defensively this season despite the emergence of what looks like a good partnership between Trevoh Chalobah and Wesley Fofana.

Chelsea consider January move for Castello Lukeba

It’s clear Chelsea need to strengthen at centre back given their current options, but what’s less clear is if they will move in the January window.

Chelsea have been linked with Murillo, whilst Marc Guehi was strongly linked in the summer, but a move failed to materialise.

However, it appears Chelsea have another defender on their radar, and TEAMtalk have reported the Blues are considering a move for Lukeba

The reports states Chelsea are prepared to bid between €55-60m in the coming weeks, and believe personal terms won’t be an issue.

TEAMtalk add Bayern Munich are interested, but it’s Chelsea who are currently leading the race for the 22-year-old, with club scouts said to be very impressed.

Chelsea have previously been linked with Lukeba, who’s under contract with RB Leipzig until 2029, and has made 14 appearances in all competitions this season.

Whether Chelsea sign a centre back in January or the summer remains to be seen, but they also have internal solutions in the position.
