Chelsea are set to recall Kendry Paez from his loan at Strasbourg and could send him on loan to Championship side Ipswich according to reports.

The Blues signed Paez from Ecuadorian side Independiente del Valle in 2023 for around €20m as a 16-year-old, but he’s yet to kick a ball for the club.

Paez is already a full Ecuador international where he plays alongside current Chelsea star Moises Caicedo, whilst the Blues also have a strong South American core in their squad.

Chelsea could recall Kendry Paez from Strasbourg

Paez was sent on loan to sister club Strasbourg in order to further develop and get experience playing in one of Europe’s top five leagues.

However, things haven’t gone to plan over the first half of the season, and the teenager has made just four starts in Ligue 1 this season.

Paez has struggled at Strasbourg this season.

There have been reports about Paez having lifestyle issues, and what Chelsea decide to do with him this month will be interesting.

If Chelsea were to recall the youngster they would then send him out on loan elsewhere, and Bola Vip have reported the Blues are set recall Paez and send him on loan to Ipswich.

Ipswich are flying high in the Championship after their relegation last season, and currently sit third, eight points behind leaders Coventry with a game in hand.

Mamadou Sarr and Mike Penders set to remain in France

Whilst Paez could be recalled, the same can’t be said for fellow loanees Mamadou Sarr and goalkeeper Mike Penders.

The duo are set to remain in France for the remainder of the season despite Liam Rosenior being appointed as Chelsea’s new head coach.

Penders is highly rated and has impressed in Ligue 1 this season, whilst the same can also be said for Sarr, and given the defensive issues at Chelsea, if he continues his good form he could find himself in the first team squad next season.
