Leeds United Women produced an excellent performance to kick off 2026 and top the table with a 4-0 win away at Chorley Women, thanks to four different goalscorers.
Simon Wood made two changes from the side from last time out, bringing Alayna Millard and Brittany Sanderson into the starting XI.
The Whites made a perfect start, as only 10 minutes in, Millard was threaded brilliantly through the lines, before crossing into the area. The ball fell to Ellie White, who looped her shot over the ‘keeper and into the back of the net!
Shortly after opening the scoring, the Whites came forward again with a driven ball finding the feet of Chloe Dixon, but the winger couldn’t make enough contact to trouble the ‘keeper.
After some nice play in the middle of the park, White almost bagged her second, narrowly missing the target from inside the area.
With the half coming to a close, and neither side creating a clear-cut opportunity for 20 minutes or so, the visitors came forward five minutes before the break…
The ball found Dixon on the edge of the area, and she hammered into the back of the net to double the lead! This scoreline remained into the break, with Leeds two goals to the good.
HALF TIME: Chorley Women 0-2 Leeds United Women
Straight after the second half whistle was blown, the Whites almost had another. Dixon latched onto a loose ball and spotted Mollie Finch off her line, but the Leeds winger’s shot was off target.
Following some neat build-up again, Alice Hughes threatened the Chorley box, curling in a deep cross but unable to find a white shirt in the area.
After some neat work on the right flank from Drew Greene, the winger created some space for a ball into the box, but trying to catch the ‘keeper out, she only could find the side netting.
With less than 10 minutes to play, Leeds found a third as Drew Greene did excellently to skip down the right wing and find room to cross straight to an arriving Sanderson, who fired into the back of the net!
Carrie Simpson pulled off a great save on the 85th minute, parrying away a strong strike to maintain the clean sheet, moments before fresh substitute Sian Gibrill-Keating spotted Finch off her line and lobbed, finding the back of the net to secure all three points!
