Karim Adeyemi’s move to Barcelona is complete in all but announcement, with the club delaying the official confirmation until Joan Laporta and Deco return from the United States.

The 24-year-old winger has already arrived in Barcelona and successfully completed his medical tests, while the agreement with Borussia Dortmund is firmly in place.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barca will pay €22 million fixed plus another €7 million in variables. Dortmund will also retain 30 percent of the profit from any future sale.

The transfer itself is therefore not in danger. The delay is purely linked to the absence of Barcelona president Laporta and sporting director Deco.

Both are currently in the United States and will attend Sunday’s World Cup final between Spain and Argentina at MetLife Stadium before returning to Barcelona on Tuesday.

That means Adeyemi’s official presentation is now expected to take place on Wednesday, when he should finally be confirmed as Barcelona’s second signing of the summer after Anthony Gordon.

Initially, the plan had been to announce the deal before the weekend and allow Adeyemi to immediately begin working under Hansi Flick, with only his formal presentation postponed.

Instead, the entire process has now been pushed back until Laporta and Deco return.

Flick must wait a little longer

Until the signing is officially announced, Adeyemi cannot train at Barcelona’s facilities. The Germany international will therefore continue working in the gym at his hotel while waiting for the final formalities.

For Barca supporters, there is little reason for concern. The important work has already been done: the agreement is closed, the medical has been passed, and the player is in Barcelona.

The delay is frustrating only because Flick would naturally prefer to integrate his new attacker as quickly as possible during pre-season.

Adeyemi will add another explosive option to a forward line already strengthened by Gordon. His pace and ability to attack space should give Barca a different weapon next season.

Now the only things missing are the photograph, the shirt, and the official announcement. Barring an unexpected twist, that should arrive once Barcelona’s senior decision-makers return home.
