Inter and Juventus are reportedly on the verge of missing out on the signature of sought-after Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi. According to Calciomercato.it, the Argentine center-back is one step away from joining Tottenham Hotspur.
Bournemouth have announced Marcos Senesi’s departure at the end of the season after the player refused to sign a new contract. Therefore, he will sever ties with the Cherries in June, four years after swapping Dutch side Feyenoord for the Vitality Stadium.
Juventus were weighing up a move for the 29-year-old in the January transfer window. However, Bournemouth refused to negotiate the sale of their starting center-back, who has made 35 Premier League appearances this season, helping the club enter the race for the last Champions League qualifying spot.
Despite his household status in Boscombe, Senesi is ready to pack his bags this summer, with a host of European clubs vying for his signature. In addition to Juventus, Inter had also considered a move for the highly rated defender amid Alessandro Bastoni’s uncertain future at San Siro.
Senesi has established himself as one of the most reliable center-backs in the Premier League in the wake of Dean Huijsen’s transfer to Real Madrid. Therefore, he would be a major coup for both Inter and Juventus.
However, the player has already agreed to join Roberto De Zerbi at Tottenham. Even though Spurs have yet to secure their top-flight status, Senesi is likely to continue his career in North London, having already given his word to the former Sassuolo manager.
