Defending Serie A champions Inter Milan are contemplating a summer offer for wantaway Roma captain Lorenzo Pellegrini to replace Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
According to Il Messaggero via FCInterNews, the 28-year-old could be Mkhitaryan’s long-term replacement.
Lorenzo Pellegrini has less than two years left to run on his contract at Stadio Olimpico.
Furthermore, he has cut a forlorn figure in Rome amid the club’s inability to fight for trophies.
Therefore, he could leave the capital in the upcoming transfer window.
Despite doing everything to prevent Davide Frattesi from joining Roma in January, Inter could sign Pellegrini.
Indeed, Claudio Ranieri’s charges are reluctant to keep hold of unhappy players and would be open to letting their star leave.

Meanwhile, Pellegrini’s exit would make room for Frattesi’s arrival.
The underperforming Inter midfielder could receive the club’s blessing to depart in the summer.
As such, Roma will be eager to pounce on this opportunity.
Frattesi may not be the only noticeable midfield departure.
Indeed, Mkhitaryan’s future hangs in the balance as he approaches the autumn of his career.
