Inter Milan stars Hakan Calhanoglu and Francesco Acerbi suffered injuries during tonight’s Champions League loss to Liverpool.

According to Sky Sport via FCInterNews, the Turkish midfielder sustained an adductor problem after only 11 minutes.

Cristian Chivu had to take Hakan Calhanoglu off inside the opening 15 minutes, with Piotr Zielinski taking the Turk’s place.

Indeed, the former AC Milan star had to leave the pitch prematurely, cutting short what was meant to be a key midfield performance.

As if losing Calhanoglu to injury less than 15 minutes into the game wasn’t concerning enough, Inter suffered another setback before halftime.

Veteran center-back Francesco Acerbi had to come off due to a muscle problem.

As it turns out, Chivu was correct not to play the 37-year-old every three days.

However, he chose to start Acerbi tonight, a decision that ultimately compromised the defender’s fitness.
