Inter Milan star Hakan Calhanoglu is reportedly expected to feature in the upcoming showdown between Kosovo and Turkey.
According to Turkish outlet Sabah via FCInter1908, the 32-year-old will captain his nation in the decisive 2026 FIFA World Cup playoff final.
Hakan Calhanoglu suffered a minor muscle injury during Turkey’s narrow 1-0 home win over Romania on Thursday.
Indeed, head coach Vincenzo Montella had to take off his star midfielder in the final stages of that playoff semi-final tie.
Therefore, the Nerazzurri talisman’s availability for Tuesday’s clash in Pristina was hanging by a thread.
However, the former AC Milan man appears to have managed to shrug off the muscle issue.
With Turkey bidding to return to the World Cup finals for the first time since 2002, Montella desperately needs his captain at his best.
Indeed, it’s been over two decades since the Crescent-Stars last competed at the most prestigious international tournament.
As such, Calhanoglu is eager to help his nation qualify for this summer’s showpiece in North America.
Meanwhile, the Inter ace has completed several personalized training sessions ahead of tomorrow night’s clash against Kosovo.
Calhanoglu’s recovery can also encourage Inter boss Cristian Chivu ahead of Sunday’s match against Roma.
