Inter Milan reportedly never wanted to go beyond €45 million in their offer for Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman this summer.
This according to Italian broadcaster SportItalia, via FCInter1908.
This summer, Ademola Lookman was at the centre of the soap opera of the transfer window.
Inter Milan had made an offer to Atalanta to sign the 27-year-old.
The Nerazzurri’s initial bid was €40 million. Atalanta rejected this.
Then, Inter raised their offer to €45 million including add-ons. Then once again, La Dea turned this down.
The Nigerian international made a public transfer request. Then, he no-showed training for a couple weeks.
However, Atalanta’s stance remained firm. They did not want to sell Lookman, and would not even give Inter a counteroffer according to reports.

SportItalia report that Inter first took an interest in signing Lookman when his agents were shopping the 27-year-old around.
The broadcaster report that Lookman’s representatives insinuated that he would be available for a fee of €40 million.
Therefore, that was the amount that Inter bid initially.
However, Atalanta turned that offer down.
Inter were not initially deterred. They raised their offer to €45 million, including add-ons.
However, that offer was also met with a firm rejection.
According to SportItalia, though, Inter never had any plans to go much higher than that.
The Nerazzurri saw Lookman as a great transfer opportunity. And even a player that they would be willing to break their own budgetary rules on, for a player who turns 28 this October.
However, Inter weren’t going to raise their bid indefinitely. And SportItalia report that €45 million was about as high as they would go.
