Inter Milan have not deviated from their original plan to tie manager Cristian Chivu down to a new long-term contract.
According to Il Giornale via FCInter1908, the San Siro giants are ready to renew the 45-year-old’s deal despite an early Champions League exit.
Beppe Marotta took a leap of faith with the Romanian coach last summer after being turned down by Como boss Cesc Fabregas.
Indeed, Inter had to replace Simone Inzaghi before the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, forcing the club to act swiftly.
Therefore, they appointed Cristian Chivu as the Italian’s successor shortly after the end of last season.

Despite lacking experience in senior management, having managed just 13 Serie A games at Parma, Chivu has excelled this term.
Indeed, he is one step away from winning the Scudetto in his first year in charge of the Nerazzurri.
However, Inter’s underwhelming defeat to Bodo/Glimt has threatened to overshadow Chivu’s exploits in Serie A.
Unfazed by a heartbreaking European elimination, Inter will reportedly offer Chivu a new contract until 2029.
