Serie A pacesetters Inter Milan are reportedly looking to shape a new winning era around Francesco Pio Esposito and Lautaro Martinez.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, they will be the twin pillars of the club’s new project under Cristian Chivu.
Chivu is on the verge of winning the Scudetto in his first season at the helm, but it could be the last league title for several Inter stalwarts, at least at San Siro.
Indeed, Matteo Darmian, Francesco Acerbi, Stefan de Vrij, and Yann Sommer will be out of contract in June.
Furthermore, the Nerazzurri have already decided against offering them fresh terms.
Meanwhile, Henrikh Mkhitaryan could earn a short-term contract extension. However, he would likely stay as a backup option.
In addition to several players, whose contracts expire at the end of the season, Inter could sanction a few high-profile sales.
Indeed, Alessandro Bastoni and Nicolo Barella could reportedly leave the club.
The same applies to Marcus Thuram, whose form has fallen off a cliff this term, as well as Davide Frattesi, who has been on the fringes all season.
Moreover, Yann Bisseck and Hakan Calhanoglu are also among the players whose futures remain uncertain.
Meanwhile, Chivu will build a new era around Pio Esposito and Lautaro Martinez, the two best-performing Inter stars this season.
