Report: John Stones on Juventus radar after Man City departure | OneFootball

Reports in Italy claim that England international John Stones is among the defenders that are under consideration at Juventus, as Luciano Spalletti and his staff look to strengthen on a reduced budget with no access to Champions League funds.

Juventus are hoping to provide Spalletti with a competitive squad capable of challenging for the Serie A title in 2026-27, but this task was made all the more difficult when the Bianconeri missed out on Champions League qualification in the final weeks of the 2025-26 season.

The defence is an area that may need addressing. Reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport claim that Juventus are considering a deal to bring back Tarik Muharemovic from Sassuolo, hoping to use their 50% sell-on clause to their advantage.

Thursday’s reports claim that England defender Stones is also a potential option for Juventus given that he is available on a free transfer after leaving Manchester City at the end of the 2025-26 season.

The 32-year-old spent 10 seasons at the Etihad Stadium, winning six Premier League titles, three FA Cups, three EFL Cups and the 2022-23 Champions League while making 295 appearances in the English top flight and 62 in the Champions League. He also has 88 England caps to his name and is part of Thomas Tuchel’s squad for the 2026 World Cup.

The biggest concern with Stones is his injury record, especially after a season where he was only available for nine Premier League appearances and 18 across all competitions.

Meanwhile, it remains to be seen whether Gleison Bremer will stick or twist for the 2026-27 season. Much depends on his performances at the 2026 World Cup and whether there might be offers for the Brazil international once the tournament comes to an end.

La Gazzetta dello Sport suggests, however, that Juve’s interest in Stones and Muharemovic is not dependent on a sale of Bremer.

If the Brazilian were to be sold, Juventus would likely need another proven, starting option that is ready for the immediate-to-long-term future. La Gazzetta dello Sport has suggested Bayern Munich’s Kim Min-jae and Bologna’s Jhon Lucumi.
