Juventus boss Luciano Spalletti has reportedly put Teun Koopmeiners on the chopping block after another disappointing season. According to Tuttosport via Sport Mediaset, the Turin giants are ready to cash in on the Dutch midfielder this summer.
Teun Koopmeiners joined Juventus from Atalanta in a deal worth just over €55 million in the summer of 2024. Furthermore, after three impressive years in Bergamo, the 28-year-old was expected to be one of the leaders of a new era at the Allianz Stadium.
However, the former AZ Alkmaar star has failed to settle in the new environment. Unable to replicate his Atalanta form, Koopmeiners is on the verge of finishing the 2025/26 Serie A season without a single goal contribution despite making 32 league appearances.
On that basis, it’s no wonder that Juventus are keen to sell him to the highest bidder. Still, the record-time Italian champions must sell him for at least €50 million to avoid a capital loss. Given Koopmeiners’ underwhelming form, they cannot realistically expect to get that figure.
Dethroned Premier League champions Liverpool have been interested in Koopmeiners for years. They had even tried to lure him to Anfield shortly before Juventus struck an agreement with Atalanta two years ago.
Manager Arne Slot could rekindle the club’s interest in his compatriot this summer as the Reds prepare for a massive squad overhaul. However, Koopmeiners could end up staying in Serie A.
Roma boss Gian Piero Gasperini could throw his former Atalanta protege a lifeline in Italy’s top flight. With the Giallorossi on the brink of securing a first top-four finish since 2017/18, they’ll be keen to strengthen their midfield options in the summer.
Moreover, Manu Kone could leave the club, with Inter earmarking the Frenchman as one of their highest priorities. Koopmeiners would be a decent replacement for the 24-year-old, especially given his strong relationship with Gasperini.
