Antonio Rudiger is set to sign a one-year contract extension at Real Madrid, ending Juventus’s hopes of signing the German centre-back on a free transfer this summer, according to reports in Spain.
AS report, via TuttoMercatoWeb, that Rudiger has accepted the club’s offer despite initially hoping to secure a two-year deal, ultimately accepting Real Madrid’s policy of offering only annual renewals to players of his age.
The German has been a consistent presence under Carlo Ancelotti, playing through injury problems to remain a key figure at the Bernabeu and turning down a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia to stay in the Spanish capital.

The development is a blow for Juventus, who had reportedly been in talks with the defender since March.
Coach Luciano Spalletti is a long-standing admirer of Rudiger, having worked with him at Roma between 2015 and 2017, and had been pushing for a three-year deal worth €5-6 million per season.
Liverpool and Manchester United had also registered interest, though United’s pursuit was already cooling amid talks to extend Harry Maguire’s contract.
Rudiger will now form part of the defensive core under incoming manager José Mourinho, alongside Dean Huijsen and Eder Militao. David Alaba’s departure is confirmed, while Raul Asencio’s future remains uncertain.
