Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez will make a last minute return to training ahead of next Saturday’s Serie A clash with Juventus.
Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, note that the timeline will be tight for the 28-year-old’s return from the international break.
Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez is currently away for the international break.
The Nerazzurri striker did not start for Argentina in their 3-0 win over Venezuela. However, he did come off the bench and score in the second half of that match.
Meanwhile, the Albiceleste’s second and final World Cup qualifier of the break is against Ecuador on Tuesday evening local time, or early Wednesday morning in European time.
Therefore, Martinez will only be travelling back to Italy at the end of this week.

This will not leave Martinez a great deal of time ahead of Inter’s big Derby d’Italia clash with Juventus after the break.
The 28-year-old will be arriving back in training with just a day to get back up to speed.
This is hardly ideal for Inter coach Cristian Chivu in his preparations for next weekend’s match.
The Derby d’Italia against Juventus is always one of the biggest matches of Inter’s season.
Therefore, a player like Martinez is always a player the Nerazzurri coach will want on the pitch for such a match.
However, there will be questions about the Inter captain’s fitness for the match.
Therefore, Chivu will have to assess Martinez in training in the buildup to the Derby d’Italia.
