Reports are growing that Fiorentina could make an offer for ex-Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof, with help from former teammate David De Gea.

The centre-back turns 31 next week and is a free agent after his contract at Old Trafford was allowed to run down.

He had been with Manchester United since leaving Benfica for €35m in the summer of 2017 and spent six of those years as a teammate to De Gea.

Now the goalkeeper is reportedly pushing behind the scenes to get Fiorentina to approach Lindelof for a new experience in Italy.

De Gea saw his career completely revitalised by the Viola, having been out of football for a year after the end of his rapport with Manchester United.

The Corriere dello Sport and Sport Mediaset both confirm Fiorentina are ready to offer Lindelof a new contract at the Stadio Franchi.

The Sweden international would bring some valuable experience to the back line, especially following the departure of Matias Moreno to Levante and Nicolas Valentini towards a Hellas Verona loan.
