The recruitment department at Liverpool is intensifying its search for attacking reinforcements, with FC Midtjylland forward Franculino Djú emerging as a primary target for the upcoming transfer window. Following a campaign that has failed to meet the lofty expectations set by last season’s success, Anfield officials are prepared to be proactive in the market once again.
As first detailed by Sport Witness, the Guinea Bissau international has been the subject of frequent scouting missions from several Premier League outfits. While a significant injury in December temporarily halted the momentum of potential suitors, his recent return to fitness has reignited a scramble for his signature.
Midtjylland are well aware of the burgeoning interest in their prize asset. According to reports, the Danish club is holding out for a fee in excess of €25m, which would represent a new club record sale. Sporting director Kristian Bach Bak has been transparent regarding the possibility of a summer departure, noting that while the player recently returned from a four month absence, the plan for a potential move remains on the table.
“Franculino has been injured and has just come back. Fortunately, he scores at Brøndby Stadium,” Bak told Campo. “And let’s say he gets back to that level and scores in the remaining matches. Then the plan is the same.”

Despite the time spent on the sidelines, the 22 year old’s statistics are remarkable. Before his injury, he managed to register 22 goals and three assists from 32 matches in all competitions. His efficiency in the Superliga is particularly noteworthy, having netted 17 goals in just 1,273 minutes of domestic action. He recently proved his sharpness by scoring in a 2-1 victory over Brøndby IF, signalling to watching scouts that his clinical edge remains intact.
Liverpool will not have a clear run at the talented youngster. Sport Witness notes that Everton, West Ham, and Manchester United have all sent officials to Denmark to track his progress. Furthermore, Real Betis are considered serious contenders, though their pursuit may hinge on securing European football. With Bayern Munich and AS Roma also credited with interest, the Reds face “fierce competition” to secure a deal for a player contracted until 2029.
The player is represented by All Iron Sports, an agency with strong links to the Spanish market, which explains the significant interest from La Liga. While his current market valuation sits around €22m, the expected bidding war among English clubs is likely to drive the final price beyond that figure.
After the euphoria of Arne Slot leading us to the Premier League title in his first season, this year has been an unmitigated disaster. To sit 5th in the table after a staggering £450m layout last summer is difficult to swallow. We have been knocked out of every cup competition, and the title defence ended before it really began.
The squad looks like it needs a fresh injection of hunger. While we spent big, the clinical edge that defined our title win has vanished. Franculino’s record of 22 goals this season suggests he is exactly the type of high upside talent we should be targeting. A fee of over €25m is pocket change compared to what we spent last year, and if he can replicate his Superliga form at Anfield, it would be a steal.
However, seeing Everton and Manchester United in the mix makes this a high stakes pursuit. We cannot afford to lose out on top targets to local rivals, especially when our Champions League status for next season is far from guaranteed. If Slot is to fix this disaster of a season, he needs players who can hit the ground running. Franculino looks the real deal.
