Liverpool’s summer transfer activity could soon centre around Real Madrid winger Rodrygo, with fresh reports from Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri via GOAL suggesting the Brazilian has emerged as a contingency option should Luis Diaz leave Anfield. Although there is no active push to sell Diaz, Liverpool are thought to be pragmatic about the Colombian’s future, amid serious interest from Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
Rodrygo, still only 24, is reportedly growing unsettled at the Bernabéu under new boss Xabi Alonso, despite producing 14 goals and 11 assists in 54 appearances last season. Tavolieri reports that Liverpool, alongside Arsenal, are closely monitoring the situation, potentially preparing to act if Diaz departs.
“According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the Merseysiders are ready to explore the possibility of signing Rodrygo should Diaz make a move away from the club this summer.”
While Rodrygo has not publicly agitated for a move, his reduced playing time — especially in the FIFA Club World Cup — has prompted speculation that he may seek a more pivotal role elsewhere. Liverpool and Arsenal are among the few clubs with both the financial clout and tactical fit to justify a move for the winger.

Real Madrid, however, are not expected to entertain offers below €90 million (£78m). That price tag has effectively ruled out all but the Premier League elite and Saudi Pro League giants Al-Nassr, though reports suggest Rodrygo favours a move to England over the Middle East.
“Reports claim the Spanish giants have slapped a €90 million (£78m/$106m) price tag on the Brazil international.”
For Liverpool supporters, the idea of replacing Luis Diaz with Rodrygo is a contentious one. Diaz has become a fan favourite for his relentless energy and flair, and while there’s no definitive move in place, the fact the club are exploring alternatives suggests they’re preparing for all eventualities. That’s smart business, albeit unsettling for fans who want to see Diaz stay.
What appeals about Rodrygo is his Champions League pedigree and his comfort playing across the frontline — traits that fit Liverpool’s evolving tactical blueprint. However, the reported €90m fee raises questions. Would it be better spent on multiple additions rather than a single high-profile name? Supporters will be wary, especially with other gaps to fill.
Ultimately, if Liverpool are serious about Rodrygo, it suggests a broader shift in transfer policy — aiming not just for value but for ready-made stars. Whether that aligns with FSG’s ethos remains to be seen, but as things stand, the fans should brace for a bold summer ahead.
