Liverpool’s summer is shaping up to be one of transition, reinvention and difficult decisions. Among the names expected to feature prominently in those conversations is Federico Chiesa, whose time at Anfield appears to be moving towards an early conclusion.
According to reporting from Caught Offside, the Italian international is increasingly likely to secure a move away from Liverpool, with a return to Serie A firmly on the agenda.

For supporters, there is a sense of disappointment attached to the situation. Chiesa arrived with a reputation built on explosive performances for club and country. Injuries and inconsistency had affected parts of his career, but many believed Anfield would provide the stage for a fresh start.
Instead, his Liverpool story has struggled to gain momentum.
Interest from Italy appears genuine and growing. Caught Offside reports that Napoli and Como are currently monitoring developments closely, with further discussions expected in the coming weeks.
One source explained:
“Liverpool will be open to offers for Chiesa this summer.”
The report adds:
“There will be further talks between the club and the player in pre-season, but the expectation is that he’ll be informed that he can leave.”
That feels significant. Clubs rarely reach this stage without recognising that a player’s future lies elsewhere.
Liverpool are reportedly seeking around €20m for the winger, a figure that reflects both his pedigree and the reality of his limited impact on Merseyside.
Liverpool’s preference is understandable.
A permanent transfer would provide clarity, create room within the squad and generate funds for Andoni Iraola’s rebuild. Loan proposals may emerge, but Liverpool would ideally prefer a clean break.

According to the report:
“Napoli and Como are keeping an eye on the situation, but Liverpool’s asking price is around €20m, so they might explore the possibility of signing him on loan at first. Liverpool’s preference is a permanent sale, but let’s see if they’re open to discussing a loan with an obligation.”
That final point could become crucial. Modern transfers increasingly rely on creative structures, particularly when clubs are managing spending restrictions.
Liverpool’s squad already looks very different from the one supporters became accustomed to over recent seasons.
The departures of senior figures have created vacancies in both quality and leadership. Iraola now faces the challenge of shaping a group capable of competing at the highest level while also establishing his own identity.
Chiesa’s exit would not rank among the most damaging departures. His contribution has been limited and opportunities have been scarce. Yet depth matters across a long campaign, particularly for clubs competing on multiple fronts.

Liverpool must ensure every outgoing player is balanced by the right incoming addition.
If Chiesa does leave, many supporters will wish him well. His commitment was never questioned. Sometimes transfers simply fail to develop as hoped.
For Liverpool, the focus now shifts towards building a squad ready for the next chapter.
There is an acceptance that Chiesa moving on probably suits all parties.
Supporters were excited when he arrived. There was genuine belief that Liverpool had secured a player capable of reigniting the form that once made him one of Europe’s most feared wide attackers. Unfortunately, those flashes were too infrequent.
That does not diminish his talent. It simply reflects the reality that some signings never quite fit.
The encouraging aspect of this report is what it says about Liverpool’s wider plans. If the club are prepared to move on players who are not central to Iraola’s thinking, it suggests recruitment and squad planning are being approached with purpose.
An asking price of €20m feels reasonable in the current market. Liverpool fans will hope the club can secure a permanent deal rather than a temporary loan arrangement, allowing resources to be redirected towards priority targets.
There is also optimism surrounding the new era under Iraola. Every major rebuild requires difficult choices, and supporters understand that sentiment cannot drive decision making.
Should Chiesa return to Italy, most Liverpool fans would remember him as a talented player whose Anfield career never truly caught fire. More importantly, they will hope his departure becomes another step towards constructing a squad capable of challenging for the biggest honours once again.
