Chelsea could be back in the running for Mike Maignan just months after he signed a new Milan contract, as the total revamp of the club and Champions League failure changed the situation.
The goalkeeper had been pushing for the exit and seemed to be leaning towards Stamford Bridge last summer, when his contract was running down.
Despite the very real risk of losing him as a free agent, the Rossoneri rejected all offers and continued talks, which paid off with a new agreement until June 2031.

However, a lot has happened in recent weeks, because Milan failed to qualify for the Champions League, in response firing coach Max Allegri, director of sport Igli Tare, CEO Giorgio Furlani and technical director Geoffrey Moncada.
They still haven’t replaced any of those figures and the future looks increasingly uncertain, which is irritating the old guard.
That includes Maignan, as Calciomercato, Sport Mediaset and others warn the France international is ready to reconsider if Chelsea made a new proposal.
He joined Milan from Lille in 2021 for €16.4m and will turn 31 next month, while playing for France at the World Cup.
Others likely to leave following the earthquake behind the scenes are Rafael Leao and Adrien Rabiot, the latter potentially following Allegri to Napoli.
