Mike Maignan will undergo tests on Tuesday to understand the extent, if any, of the head trauma he suffered during the win over Udinese.

It was quite a difficult watch for Milan fans as Maignan went down during a collision with Alex Jimenez and seemed totally out cold. Updates that have followed have been more positive, and with the goalkeeper even making light of the situation.

As Calciomercato.com report, Maignan is recovering from the head injury that forced him to spend a night under observation at the Udine hospital on Friday. Luckily, all the tests were negative, but the concern naturally remains.

Meanwhile, Gianluca Di Marzio reports that – as per the rules for a head injury – he will have to observe a week of total rest before returning to the field. It is unclear whether that applies from Friday or from the date of discharge from hospital.

The former Lille man is determined to give a big hand to the team in this final part of the season, starting with the Easter challenge against Atalanta at San Siro. Sergio Conceicao is more cautious and does not want to take risks for a player who is fundamental to the team.

A scan is scheduled for the late afternoon today and it will be a key step to understand whether or not Maignan will be available to Conceicao for the challenge against Gian Piero Gasperini’s Atalanta on Sunday. Everyone is crossing their fingers, especially in view of the derby on 23 April.
