Manchester United are reconsidering the future of Casemiro following an impressive run of form that has reignited discussion around his long term role at Old Trafford. According to TeamTalk, the club are now open to reopening talks with the Brazilian midfielder after Michael Carrick expressed strong support for extending his stay.
Casemiro, who turned 34 last month, had previously indicated his intention to leave Manchester United at the end of the season. Yet football often rewards experience, and the midfielder’s recent performances have altered the conversation inside the club.

The Brazilian’s resurgence has come during a period of change at Manchester United. Since Carrick took charge, Casemiro has rediscovered rhythm and authority in midfield.
TeamTalk report that “Manchester United are prepared to re-engage in talks with Casemiro and potentially offer the Brazilian the chance to remain at Old Trafford.”
That shift reflects the influence of Carrick within the dressing room and the training ground. The interim manager has clearly valued the leadership that Casemiro brings to the squad.

Sources indicate that Carrick has communicated his view strongly to the club hierarchy.
“We understand Carrick has made it clear internally that Casemiro remains an extremely important figure within the dressing room, both on and off the pitch.”
For a club rebuilding confidence and structure, that message carries weight.
Casemiro’s contribution this season extends beyond reputation. The midfielder has delivered tangible output while continuing to anchor United’s midfield.
TeamTalk highlight the scale of his involvement, noting that he has made “29 appearances across all competitions this season, contributing seven goals and two assists from midfield.”
Statistics also show his defensive impact remains significant. Tackles, interceptions and ball recoveries continue to place him among United’s most influential players in key areas.

His partnership with Kobbie Mainoo has been particularly encouraging.
The combination of youth and experience has given Manchester United balance in midfield. Casemiro provides composure, Mainoo offers mobility and progression. Together they have formed a pairing that supporters increasingly trust.
Supporters have recognised Casemiro’s influence during recent performances. The Brazilian scored in Manchester United’s 3-1 victory over Aston Villa, prompting chants of “one more year” from the Old Trafford crowd.
That moment captured the mood around a player who has regained admiration from fans.
Former United captain Wayne Rooney has also backed the idea of an extension. Speaking on Match of the Day, Rooney said: “I would [offer him an extension] now.”
He also acknowledged how perceptions have shifted.
“I said early on in his time at United I didn’t think he quite had the legs to get round. I think a few people felt the same, but I take that back. I think he’s been absolutely fantastic.”
Rooney’s assessment echoes a growing belief within the club that experience remains valuable in a young squad.
Casemiro’s contract expires in June and currently earns him £350,000 per week. Earlier discussions suggested a potential one year extension structured around reduced base salary and performance incentives.
Interest from Saudi Arabia, MLS and several European clubs has already emerged. Despite those approaches, the midfielder has yet to commit elsewhere.
That leaves Manchester United with a decision that balances sentiment, performance and financial planning. Casemiro’s future may ultimately depend on whether both sides can agree terms that reflect his current role while recognising the club’s evolving structure under INEOS.
For now, Carrick’s message is clear. Casemiro remains a figure of influence, leadership and competitive spirit within Manchester United’s dressing room.
Casemiro arrived at Old Trafford with enormous pedigree and delivered exactly the type of mentality fans crave. Winning matters to him, and supporters recognise that attitude immediately.
When results have faltered, experienced figures often carry responsibility. Yet this season has reminded many fans why Casemiro was signed in the first place. His positioning, his timing in tackles and his authority in midfield continue to influence matches.
Supporters have also noticed the chemistry developing between Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo. That partnership offers balance. Mainoo brings energy and forward thinking passing, while Casemiro brings calmness and leadership.
Fans chanting “one more year” during the Aston Villa match was not accidental. It reflected appreciation for a player who has given everything in the shirt.
At the same time, supporters understand the financial realities facing Manchester United. Wages and squad planning remain central to the INEOS project. Any new deal would need to make sense for both the player and the club.
If Casemiro accepts adjusted terms, many fans would welcome his presence for another season. Experience and winning mentality remain valuable assets in a squad that is still developing.
