Manchester United are ready to advance new contract talks with teenage midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, a new report has revealed.

The 19-year-old was rewarded with a new four-year contract in early 2023, shortly after his first-team debut, and has gone on to establish himself as a key member of United's midfield.

Mainoo was also a key figure for England at Euro 2024, coming into Gareth Southgate's starting lineup as the Three Lions reached a second consecutive final at the tournament.

As noted by Fabrizio Romano, United are well aware that Mainoo has outperformed the terms of his current agreement and are prepared to reward him with a pay rise to reflect his increased importance to the team.

A formal offer isn't thought to have been made but United officials are drawing up a new proposal and intend to sit down with Mainoo's representatives in the near future.

United's desire to tie Mainoo down to a new contract is said to be a mutual feeling, with the young midfielder delighted with life at Old Trafford.

Those in charge at United have made it clear they want to keep Mainoo, an academy graduate, as one of the faces of their new project. Winger Amad Diallo is another who could be in line for a new contract after establishing himself under Erik ten Hag, while Alejandro Garnacho – another player to emerge as a first-team regular – signed a new five-year deal back in April 2023.
