Jorge Mendes has reportedly offered Barcelona starlet Alejandro Balde to Milan amid the left-back’s uncertain future at Camp Nou. According to Fabrizio Romano, the San Siro giants have reservations about the player’s substantial €40 million price tag.

It’s been quite a transfer window for Milan so far. After securing the services of Mario Gila and Goncalo Ramos, the Rossoneri signed Diego Moreira in a flash deal. Furthermore, the versatile Belgian international can cover numerous positions, though he’s likely to play as a left wingback in Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 setup.

Therefore, Milan remain in the market for a new attacking midfielder to compensate for the imminent departure of Rafael Leao. Despite a lack of suitable offers for the Portuguese winger, it feels like it’s only a matter of time before he leaves Serie A after being deemed surplus to requirements by Amorim.

However, Milan are now operating on a tight budget and must tread carefully in the final days of the transfer window.

Our take on Milan & Balde

Given Balde’s impressive performances in the Blaugrana shirt over the past couple of years, there’s little doubt that he’d be an immediate upgrade on Davide Bartesaghi and Pervis Estupinan. Yet, with Moreira expected to be the new starting wingback, Milan may seek a different profile to close the market.

It’s uncertain whether Barcelona would be open to selling their homegrown star even after bringing Joao Cancelo back to the club. Meanwhile, Manchester United have also enquired about the 22-year-old, whose starting berth under Hansi Flick now looks anything but guaranteed.
