In recent days, a re-emerging link arose again, that of Romelu Lukaku and AC Milan, but a report from this morning suggests that the links could fade as quickly as they became prominent.

Although Joshua Zirkzee remains the top priority for Milan, other ideas are being evaluated, and one of these is Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian striker has been linked to the Rossoneri several times in recent summers, and this mercato has been no different, and the ending could be in sight.

Whilst the rumours have arisen, and no matter how concrete the Diavolo’s interest has been, the final step has never been taken, and it seems the same outcome may be awaiting this storyline once again.

As Cronache di Napoli (via Milan News) reports, Napoli hold a strong interest in the striker, and the main reason for this is Antonio Conte. In previous iterations, the duo have been deadly, and Lukaku seemed at his best in recent years under Conte’s tutelage at Inter.

With this in mind, and Conte looking for a new striker due to Victor Osimhen’s situation, he sees Lukaku as a permanent option, to a reoccurring issue for the Partneopei. Furthermore, the report suggests that an agreement between the two clubs is close, and a deal could be sealed for €30 million.
