Marc-Andre ter Stegen is still training with FC Barcelona, but his loan move to Ajax is now expected to be made official within days.

The 34-year-old goalkeeper took part in Hansi Flick’s double training session on Monday as he continues preparing normally while the final details of his departure are resolved.

According to MARCA, the agreement with Ajax is already complete and only minor financial issues between Barcelona and Ter Stegen remain outstanding.

The expectation is that the move could be officially announced between Tuesday and Wednesday, bringing an end to weeks of negotiations around the veteran goalkeeper.

Ter Stegen remains under contract with Barcelona until 2028, but he is set to spend the 2026-27 season on loan in Amsterdam.

Despite the operation being almost closed, the German has continued working with the first team rather than stepping away from the group.

That approach makes sense given his recent injury problems. Ter Stegen endured a difficult previous campaign and wants to arrive at Ajax in the best possible physical condition.

He will reunite there with Michel, who previously worked with him at Girona and remains a strong admirer of his experience, leadership and quality with the ball.

For Barca, completing the loan would bring clarity to one of the most important unresolved situations in the squad.

The club are still working through several possible departures, including Roony Bardghji and Marc Casado, as Flick’s final group continues to take shape.

Ter Stegen’s exit is different because of his status and salary, but the sporting direction now appears clear.
