Real Madrid’s dressing room atmosphere turned tense during the halftime interval of their clash against Levante in mid-January, according to revelations made on the Spanish programme El Chiringuito.

Journalist Juanfe Sanz explained that the incident began when one player tried to rally the squad in an emotional and forceful manner.

While no name has been mentioned, according to his account, the individual entered the dressing room visibly frustrated with the first-half display and attempted to shake his teammates out of their complacency.

Describing the situation, Sanz said, “There is a player who enters the locker room encouraging his teammates to put their foot down, to play with intensity, to show personality and not let the ball burn them.

“All this in an angry tone to try to motivate the players who at that moment were not giving their all.”

Bound for a hard recoil

However, the speech did not go down smoothly with everyone present. As tensions rose, another senior figure in the dressing room challenged the player who was trying to lead the rallying cry.

The response came from a teammate who, according to the journalist, was not having the best of games himself.

Sanz continued, “There is a player who stands up to him.

“A heavyweight addresses the team and one of his teammates, who, in fact, was not having a good time in the first half, and says something like,

“‘Even if you score the goals, you’re not playing better than the rest of the team.

“‘Even if you’re going to score the goal, you’re not playing better than the rest of the team.’”

There is more to it

Despite the heated words, the situation did not escalate into a full-blown confrontation.

Other players inside the dressing room stepped in to calm the atmosphere and prevent the argument from getting out of hand.

Sanz made it clear that while the moment was tense, it never crossed the line into disrespect or physical confrontation.

He concluded, “There was no disrespect, no insults, no confrontation in which they were face to face, very close to each other.

“The rest of the players tried to calm the situation down, but there was a moment of tension between these two players, which I don’t think went any further, but at that moment, it was a considerable argument between two Madrid players,” he concluded.
